Custom gun compartments anyone?

*unloaded means there shall not be any ammo with in the immediate vicinity of said firearm. No ammo in the same locked container as the gun, no loaded magazines in the same area, even right next to the locked container. Ammo can only be stored out of the immediate area of the firearm and out of the reach of the driver or passengers.
Just FYI so you don't get arrested.

Unless you have a concealed carry permit it's not to be anywhere in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. In a truck for example there is only a passenger area so it must be in a locked box, unloaded*,and stowed out of the immediate reach of the driver (meaning under the back seat at minimum). In addition, you are only to be transporting to or transporting from a sanctioned shooting competition, for employment, or recreational shooting at a "range".

Keep in mind this thread isn't about legality, it's about utility, as far as I can see.

He implied it by posting pictures of where he keeps it and stating here's where I keep mine. Let me say, I really like where he has it. I wasn't attacking. I'm pretty 2A and I know the law. I don't want to see anyone get hooked who may not deserve it

I do have a CCW permit and this only goes in there while I'm in the vehicle, and never when I'm not - I like the consolevolt idea and would definitely need that a times I would be required to leave it behind - I've actually had passengers sit in the truck and to this day don't even know I have it there, along with my kids - let me make this clear, I DO NOT walk away from my truck at any point my firearm is in the compartment, ever.
I do usually have it on with my IWB holster, but at times, mainly during long rides where it gets a little uncomfortable

I'm going to work on mounting a holster in my truck so I can put my gun in it when driving since my firearm is blocked by the buckle. I already have a safe in my truck to lock it away when needed.

Great post ! lotta good ideas ! keep them coming.
Old truck had Browning tactical seat covers. Gun & 2 mags
between your knees on front of seat. But non locking
Nothing yet in the new truck, but its October in Mi. so I can get by wearing a jacket. I haven't taken any long trips yet and the shoulder rig Is pretty comfy, and easy to get at.
Looking for ideas for locking it up if I have to leave it behind.
interested to see what people come up with.
