Ford owned Range Rover and Jaguar and only recently sold them. You'll notice a good deal of Rover influence in the F150 interior as well as the aesthetics of the Explorer - the sport especially.

I had a RR Sport Supercharged (white on white), it was an awesome vehicle but I was paying 1000-1500 at every service interval and it was still under warranty! There was always something that needed replacing that was outside the scope of the 'bumper to bumper' warranty and I couldn't justify the expense on top of a 95k vehicle.

Off Road mode in the Raptor is modified tech taken from RR, as is hill descent control.

Rovers are just not worth the expense and Ford made great strides in improving their reliability over previous generations.

If you think a ford truck is nicer than a rover, you are blind or have your ford goggles glued on. The comparison was to show that there are better buys for 60k than a ford truck. Porsche Cayenne? JD power rates that 5 stars.

(Insert assertion on how you need a truck bed)

My 1500-lb SWAG was based mostly on the fact that the highest payload I've seen on a b-pillar in the photos of these road-show trucks (short-box SuperCrews) is 1520 lb if I recall correctly.

Since I'm planning on a '16 short-box SuperCrew in a posh trim level to replace my '07, bigger payload is better but a 3000+ lb payload on that config is only slightly more likely than my winning the lottery between now and then.
Yea I get what you're saying. 3k lb payload is a pipe dream, but breaking into the 2k lbs + I thought would be pretty easy with the vehicle weight drop considering my short box max tow SuperCrew 502a Lariat is over 1,600 lbs. I know you can't just add the weight savings back in, but it would seem to reason that my same truck in 2015 would have around 2,250 lb payload. But then again maybe not. If it's not over 2k I don't know where all the other weight under the GVWR has gone.

All I've gotten is the following email

We’re sorry the F-150 Drive Tour isn't coming to your area currently. If your city is added to the tour list - we'll send you an email and let you know!
A Ford Dealer near you may have trucks available in the coming months.
If you'd like to find your local Dealership, click below and they can let you know when they have an all-new 2015 F-150 for you to test drive.
