I'm sure it would be very easy for Ford to say, "looks like the added modded computer cause the malfunction." You then have to get someone to show it didn't. I wouldn't risk it.

For those that can't read English, just for you I'll repeat myself.

"The dealer MUST PROVE the failure was absolutely caused from the tune."

No problem when they dump the data out of the PCM!

Tell you what, I'll add the tuner and if something goes wrong and isn't covered because they claim it was the mod, then I'll call you up and you can either pay for it or hire a lawyer for me. I would trust any of these big corporations for a second. They have deep pockets and big lawyers, so good luck fighting it if they claim so. Maybe you get lucky like my friend and they won't check, but if they really want to stick it to you then they will.

If these tuner companies were confident that the tuner wouldn't void the auto manufacturer's powertrain warranty, they would offer a powertrain warranty.

I've owned a 1994 5.0 Mustang, a 1999 Cobra, a 2010 GT, a 2011 5.0, a 2013 5.0 and now own a 2015 3.5EB F150.

All (with exception of the 1994) were purchased a brand spanking new, and all of them were tuned (with other significant and obvious mods). Not a single one was every denied warranty work because of any modification.

The law states the dealer must prove the modification led to the issue. Not exactly sure what you folks discuss on this website if you're too afraid to actually modify your vehicle... new floor mats? This is the least enthusiastic "enthusiast" F150 site out there.

I'll say it again go back to stroking it with your window stickers, if you don't want to mod your vehicle ...great stop spewing non-sense.

I will offer my perspective. I have ran a tune on every f150 I have ever owned. I have never had any issue with a tune. I always allow the truck to get a few thousand miles for break-in if something was to happen to an engine it's usually in the first few thousand miles.

My current truck (2.7 Eco) has been tuned since 4k miles runs like a champ no issues. Love the extra power feels way stronger than my 2011 3.5 L Ecoboost.

Do some research, stick with a reputable tuner, but in the end its your call.

Some do, however that has nothing to do with whether the dealership wants to pretend a modification had something to do with an unrelated issue.

If someone wants to mod their vehicle they realize it could potentially cause issues with warranty work however it has been my experience (and significant experience at that) that it is generally not an issue.
