Default I need advice with the present-gen F-150

In about a year from now I am planning to get an all-new F-150 but I have concerns I need to address or at least get an advice from any F-150 owners. I like the F-150 particularly for it's aluminum body which means its not going to rust or at least live longer than most vehicles, but what concerns me is the engines I'm leaning on as an option. The 3.5L EcoBoost has been around since 2011 without any dramatic changes done to it as well as the 5.0L Coyote V-8 which just received a power bump for 2015, between the 2 which one is better to keep with the vehicle? (I'm wanting to keep the truck for as long as I can just those old folks with their old trucks still running). I'm quite concerned with MPG so what's the actual numbers these engine give to you guys as a daily driver? (This will be a daily driver so there will SOME miles to it), I love to have the truck with a spare fuel tank, what does that spell for the aluminum truck? Weight I know it will be heavier but how heavy will it be and will it totally affect the MPG or just a little? With me wanting to keep the truck for more than 10 years I know I have to keep track on scheduled maintenance and related stuff but what does one need to expect when a truck like an F-150 reaches 10,000 30,000 50,000 or more than 100,000 miles? With all the electrical components the truck has I'm leaning more on the basic features and a few creature comforts (301A package). I narrowed down every truck there is and so far the F-150 fits my criteria but any current owner input I will greatly appreciate!

One thing I noticed about my aluminum truck is how it handles in windy conditions. The wind really pushes it around.
You really have to watch the doors on windy days. They are so much lighter and they act like sails with the wind gusts.
My 2011 F150 handled much better at highway speeds. The 2015 definitely wins when it comes to cornering, stopping, and in town driving though.

Welcome to the site! Unfortunately you're asking about a broad range of topics and everyone is going to have an opinion on each question you have. It may be best to search on each individual question so you can form your own opinion on each topic. Not trying to come off rude, it's just something to consider.

@KYBuckeye I'm new to the forum and didn't really paid attention on the posts my bad. I know I ask too much info regarding the truck but my biggest concern/ inquiry would be with the unaltered 3.5L EB V6 models, someone told there are owners who had the engine for over 100,000 on the odometer which sounds insane for me as my mechanic friend told me the turbocharger is a wear and tear part of the engine. I'm gearing to keep the truck for more than 10 years without totally abusing it.

@Mo Power That's something I need to watch out for then, my father lets me drive his '16 SuperCab 4WD occasionally and I can say the truck is really light it has the 2.7 in it too! I'm liking the aluminum truck so far and I noticed yours has the 5.0 if you don't mind me asking what are you averaging in terms of combined MPG? Ford says this generation shed 700 lbs. from the previous, does that really pay-off even with a V-8?

@KYBuckeye first off thanks! I'll try to broaden my inquiry, what I'd like to know is how does the 3.5 EB react as a daily driver engine? I've tested all 3 engines except for this one, can you give me insights to it?

I guess what I need to know are the pros and cons of the 5.0 and 3.5 EB, what matters to me is getting the right F-150 that'll fit my needs and wants, I like the V-8 in fact I spec'd an XLT with that engine and a few options (301A, Chrome Appearance, FX4, 36 gal. tank, spray-on bedliner), will this particular fuel tank counter the claimed 700 lbs, weight savings?

To compare mpgs between the engines I suggest you take a look at http://www.fuelly.com/

As long as you take care of it and you don't get a lemon from the factory all the engines will last well over 100,000 miles.... I keep my trucks 10+ years and have always got the big V8 but with this one I got the 2.7 with tow and payload package and it will do all I need.
Thing is you keep talking about MPG.... First question how are you going to use the truck??? What are you going to haul, how many miles a day/year ect?

@Carmmond thanks! As much as possible I'm trying do all these research to gather information about the F-150, I plan to keep the truck and going to scheduled maintenance and keeping track of recalls is on my to do list once I get it. It's going to be a daily driver, occasional long distance vehicle (that's why I'm interested with the MPG and 36 gal. tank).
