The bug deflector does prevent hood water blowback and I also recommend the Stampede. However, if you have dew on front area/deflector, it will continuously spray small water droplets onto the windscreen. This mainly only happens during the fall time here in the north. I bought the Stampede mainly for front hood protection and was hoping to completely eliminate water being sprayed onto the windcreen. It doesn't allow the immediate surprising washout when coming to a stop but is now more of a irritation during a limited time of the year for me.

My Tundra did the same thing with water on the hood. I think it's just aerodynamics of a huge hood. Just rainX your windshield and try to deal with it haha

What do the shutters have to do with water on the hood?

Smoked was just to better see the ends. Some people are getting ones with ends that are rounded and extend out further.

Thanks for all of the awesome replies! Great to hear that the bug deflector does work. Have you noticed a significant difference in MPG? I know its probably fractional but every bit counts.

As far as the water blow back goes, it happens for a few reasons, the hood channels divert a wide swath of water into a smaller area causing a larger pool to hit the dge of the hood at the same time. Due to the sharp angle of the hood to the grill it drives the wind up and at the windshield. I agree it is just water but it could be a safety issue. especially when it happens from dew and not rain. IE wipers arent going already, you are trying to slow down and now you cant see. I live coastal so we get lots of morning dew on our vehicles, just trying to improve my truck in any way i can.

Thanks for the feed back on the bug deflector, you mentioned it not having hardware, does it use "tape". I saw a few aero skin designs and lots of complains about it de sticking and flying off at speed. Only fix i have seen is using acetone and alcohol on the hood prior. I dont really want to do that.

As far as the inside light goes, its a pretty base model so i have no sunglass holder. I dont really see a way of fixing it without removing the light and re drilling the hole at a different angle or something. Its not a horribly big deal but like i said, trying to improve in anyway i can.

Thank you all again for your advice and feed back.

My 2013 Silverado did the same thing with water on the hood. You will get used to it.
