Ford forum but questions on competition

That otta tackle those comprehension issues.
Every engine ever dies. Oh an if your engine hasn't stopped working well then you just haven't had the vehicle long enough.
I'm curious. How long is long enough to leak? Rough ballpark?
--On topic:
Parents have a 2013 Ram and I think its fairly nice for the money, did go thorough its factory tires pretty fast though.
I like the looks of the Chevy's but they just aren't as up on the tech and features as Ford.
Toyota's are antiquated hogs.
Titan's are ugly hogs.

OP I'll tell you what I found when I looked into every truck
GM Twins: Same old truck from 2000. Drove a few and it felt just like my 2000 silverado. Their V8s lack grunt when hooked to a trailer. I would only get one if I was getting the 6.2. That motor is solid. The vibrations also scared me away from them.
RAM: Poor paint on the seams below the doors, seem to see a lot of rusty ones, overall just didn't feel as solid as the Ford. I think since they got the new 8 speed they've had a better track record with tranny issues but I could be wrong.
Tundra: **** poor MPGs and rough ride. Looks depend on who you are but I think they are ugly. Again to me it felt like the GM twins. New sheet metal but everything else feels old still
Nissan: The cummins seems to be a bit of a flop in that truck. From what I've read a lot of people are disappointed in the new truck. I mean how many of them have you actually seen on the road?
Ridgeline: Are you buying a truck or a honda pilot that has *** cancer surgically removed?! At the end of the day it's a pilot. I feel like your friend would be disappointed in it.
Ford: biggest issue seems to be with leather stretching, cooled seats, and bugs with SYNC. The problem with all of these alignment issue and sunroof posts is that it's hard to see the scale of the actual problem. Most people don't google for a thread with people complaining so they can join the forum and say "my truck is great" people search for threads and comment when they too have problems. I haven't seen any TSBs on the sunroof or door alignment (then again I haven't looked for them as I don't have a sunroof and my doors are damn good). Yet Ford seems to have been good about releasing TSBs (mind you they don't solve a f***ing thing, but they are still released)

Lots of rust issues on the Tundra forums. Not surprisingly, most are on trucks in the northern regions. Toyota just does not seem to be sinking the R&D into its trucks like it used to. They sell every one they make almost as soon as the trucks can hit the lots, but Toyota manufactures a small % of the volume that the big 3 produce annually. Seems to fit their business model, and fewer gas guzzlers will make it easier for Toyota to comply with the upcoming CAFE standards.

My last truck was a Tacoma. Frame rust was a common theme on their forums. I was leaning F150 from the jump, but I took a serious look at the Tundra. I like the column shift, and the Tundra's was just cartoonish in its size and placement. That, and the high price and 12 mpg quickly took them out of the running. Plus, they are way overdue for a major overhaul and upgrade.

I took a hard look at the Tundra before buying mine in Feb. I bought the truck to tow a trailer and for 2016 Toyota finally offered a factory brake controller and a larger gas tank, plus their reliability was a big plus. Like others have said, the 5.7 fuel economy is probably the worst of all half tons, but I could have probably lived with that after owning a 2010 5.4. The biggest drawback was the lack of payload....1300 lbs seemed to be the norm for the ones I looked at.
Ditto for the Rams...any options at all and the payload was pitiful plus coil springs aren't the best set up for towing.
The complaints about the GM vibrations were numerous plus the 5.3 seemed sluggish unless floored due in part the way the trans was set up for max fuel efficiency. The 6.2 is very nice but $$.
The only annoying issue with the F150 so far is getting all the doors to close when it's real cold out. Seems like they could have done a lot more cold weather testing on these.
