Default Any body guys with a door alignment how-to?

Hey all,

I've scoured all the door alignment threads and gained some great info on adjusting my doors in and out, but I can't find any info on up and forward.

Currently, my drivers side doors sit .125" (1/8) lower than my passenger doors and .100" back towards the bed. I believe my air leak issues are because my drivers side doors aren't up high enough to properly seal, nor located far enough forward.

Is this something I can do myself? I've taken this thing to 2 dealers for a total of 5 trips and nobody seems to care. I've gotten pretty good at the phone book method and adjusting them in and out.

Thanks.

You are welcome.

For future reference, that came out of the 8,700 page shop manual that I just bought on-line for $70 last week.

Unbelievable amount of detail in the manual.

Check out this video:

while it is for the 2015, it explains how to measure door alignment. Just having the measurement isn't enough. You need to know where and how to make it.

I took it to a third dealer, and they said that my driver front door wasn't square to the cab. I repeatedly explained the amount of gap and the fact that my rear door is rubbing on the cab. None of the spacing issues were addressed. I called my dealer and told them I'm totally done messing with this and they can make it right or I'm leaving for another brand.

Default *****Solved*****

I was able to get behind the pillar and move the rear door forward and up. I also moved the driver door up and forward. It seals great and looks damn close to the passenger side.

Could you show how you did so?

Default NOT SOLVED - could it be a warped door?

After closer attention while driving, it's vastly improved but no where near where it should be as far as sealing. Now, I have noise all over the place. A click that sounds like a bad detent, a light popping that sounds like a seal breaking loose.

My question is, after 3 body shops and I took time to fix these doors and nothing gets them right, is it possible I have a warped door from the factory? I'm trying to arm myself with as much info when I go to the dealer because they will obviously deny this as even an option. After scouring the other threads, it seems like minor adjustment makes them better, but nothing fixes mine.
