Default 6.5 Crew cab with EB and 3.31 - any issues/regrets?

I am just waiting to place an order for a 2016 lariat, crewcab, 6.5 bed, EB. I currently have a 14 FX4, same spec and it has the 3.73 axle. Now, given how rarely it ever seems to be in anything other than 5th or 6th gear, I was planning on going for the 3.31 axle this time. My truck doesn't get used much for heavy loads, very occasional towing, and I am not planning larger off-road tires, just the normal 20s and snow tires in winter. Only other consideration is that i live at 6500' and a lot of my mileage is up and down over the pass ( but still very rarely see it below 5th unless I am really stepping on it)

My rationale is that given how string the EB is on torque and the lower weight of the new truck, the 3.31 should not be any issue and give better cruising. Of course I am now second guessing myself and wondering if i should play safe with the 3.55

Any real world input/thoughts from those with a similar set up? Any regrets on the 3.31? Thanks!

I went from 3.73 to 3.55 and wish I had 3.73. I do light towing in rolling hills and it shifts way more that my 2012. Even when empty it shifts where my 12 never did. I do get better mileage with 3.55s. I averaged 15 with 3.73 and get around 17.5 with 3.55 mixed driving.

the difference is really marginal unless youre going to be running bigger tires. i'd say get the 3.55 if you have the option.. 3.55 and EB sounds like a win if you wont be doing much towing. Check out this review from the fast lane truck. i saw it a couple weeks ago before purchasing my truck...
