2.7 eco vs 3.5 eco: which one?

^ this right there should be an auto-reply to all future EB vs 5.0 threads, that pretty much sums it up.

Beer, Boats, and Trucks.
I just drove the 2.7 EB and the 5.0 back to back. Both offer wonderful driving experiences--as expected the 2.7 has a quick, turbo feel that gets you moving more quickly then its power feels more like the 5.0. The 5.0 just has consistent power without the turbo push and sounds and feels like a traditional, growling truck. Quite different which was pretty cool! I can see that the new F-150 offers something for everyone.

I haven't purchased yet--going to Atlanta this weekend and some of their dealers have a dozen 2015 F-150 trucks remaining so I will see what they have. I think I am leaning to the 2.7 just because i love the turbo and it offers me something new from my 2010 Ford Flex (which is a non ecoboost, non turbo engine).
The real dilemma now is do I get a loaded XLT Sport or more a basic Lariat (heavily discounted to 33K and 35K respectively)?

Like you, I'm in the buying process since my '01 Lariat 4x4 S-Crew is getting a bit long in the tooth and my car lease ends soon. I don't tow anything heavier than a fishing boat or a trailer with a couple motorcycles. I've test driven new trucks with all three engines about 30 min each. They're all pretty responsive and each has its own character.
I've pretty well decided that, if I get an XLT, I'd be quite happy with either the somewhat-less-expensive 2.7 or the 5.0 if that's what happens to be in the truck that I otherwise want (packages, color, etc). No need for folks like me to spend the extra $$ for the 3.5. If I splurge and go the KR route (right now it's a toss-up), the 5.0 is standard in that trim.
FYI- the Lariats with the 502A package (a worthwhile addition IMO) come with bucket seats, center console and floor shifter.

You definitely have choices. 2.7 is going to give you the best mileage and can tow if you need it occasionally. The 3.5 has the most torque and is best if you are towing a large amount of the time. The 5.0 has more HP and a better sound, and as you have noted, pulls nicely into the upper RPMS, but does not have a great deal more torque than the 2.7, but will probably give you better mileage if you are going to stick your foot in it all the time.

I got an XLT with bucket seats. Didn't want a bench. Didn't care about the color of the truck. The wheel size. Chrome or not. All I wanted was bucket/captain seats.
