You're simply not going to see significant HP gains with just a CAI or K&N filter alone. Combine it with a free flowing exhaust and perhaps a tune, and then you'll have some noticable numbers.
I have a K&N "semi" CAI kit, a free flowing muffler, Supertuner tune, and an electric fan conversion (see the 2004 to 2008 forum and search on electric fans for my write up). The CAI and Supertuner were used items off of Ebay. While I do not have any sinificant power gains, I have improved in the MPG catagory. I have an honest 2 to 3 MPG improvement, depending on if I pull a trailer, drive in the city or highway.
I really like this engine. Simple to work on, runs great, and from all the testimonials I've been reading, it will go into the 200K odometer range with a good maintenance schedule.
