Work in Progress - Rust Removal, Painting and Light Upgrades

I'm also curious how the LEDs work as headlights. I put some in my Mustang that were supposed to be High/low but I can't hardly tell a difference. A lot brighter than the stock low beams, but I'm not sure they were worth the money in the stock housing. I just replaced the trucks bulbs with the top end Sylvania bulbs and no complaints yet with them.

Another weekend working on the truck. Installed the lights (which were a pain), fixed the windshield wiper motor, which had a loose connection and painted a few things.
Had to read up and watch a video on how to remove the headlight assembly cause I wanted to thoroughly clean the lens and its impossible to reach around to access the side marker and turn signal markers. Here is the video.
Started off with removing the headlight frames. I was unable to remove the lens because they were held place place with these retaining clips that did not want to come off. Just to be safe I left them on rather than damaging or breaking them.
In order to do this I had to go as far removing the battery and its holder to remove the 11mm bolt holding it in.
Since I had it out might as well paint it black.
Also I decided last second to paint the headlight frame and the grill the same shade of black to match the grill. Very hard to notice difference on camera but in person you can see it.
I did not realize that the bulbs on this truck were held in place with a headlight locking clip so when I put the LED's in there was nothing to hold then in place I played around with a few ideas I even cut the original clip and try to fit the LED. So I had no choice which I don't recommend and the one thing that I hate which is using some electric tape to secure the bulbs. Honestly I really did not need to use the tape I was just worried that the bulbs would fall out eventually after a few bumps or the vibration.

Putting everything back together decided to clean the battery and put some anti corrosion on the terminals.
My camera is not picking up the colors well at all except for the low beams, I will do a separate post with my review of these bulbs. When I plugged the Philips LED in they were not matching at all to my headlights so I ended up just removing them. Also while I had the lights I ended up replacing all of them just to be safe. I strongly recommend everyone checking out this site out for the proper bulbs for your vehicle if you wish to replace with LED's.
Bulb Guide
Next up the painting the wheels and the door handles.

The LED's that Optix made said the color temperature is 6K(very slight hint of blue) but there bulbs were much closer to 5K pure white. If you are standing right in front of the truck you would think the bulbs were pure white even, from inside the cab they look closer to 5500K. There are three sides on the bulb 2 sides light up for low beam and third when high beam is on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pros:
Looks much better than the Halogen bulbs - yellowish
Much better visibility
Cons:
Color did not match description of product but I like the look
Bulbs did not fit into headlight properly(More my fault for not doing more research)
Not a problem for me but I know for other people it might be the power output for high beam is hardly noticeable

I would maybe recommend going with another company maybe OPT7 I have these on my Accord and they look amazing.
Here is the link You could maybe go with HID's which has more color options than LED's but I'm not a fan personally to many problems with flickering, mounting the huge ballast and reliability.
Completely agree with what you said barely telling a difference, thats one thing I hate about cars that have dual beams in one housing because LED's have not advanced enough yet to provide enough power to the bulbs to clearly distinguish between high and low. For me I have LED's on my CBR and Accord and don't need the high beam because its bright enough. Sticking with halogen seems like the only option right now if you want both high and low beam with noticeable difference.

Not to worried about color as much as output. I want brighter lights I am in the woods a lot, an need to be able to see what's ahead of me. Thinking I might just get some cube driving lights an a small light bar in the middle. Would use the cubes for in town, an the bar for when I'm in the woods.
