Default whistling noise

I have noticed a whistle type noise in my truck... sounds like a teapot when it's just starting to sing, a warbly sort of whistle, not a full shriek. I have noticed it when I start up the truck and have to do a maneuver at nearly full steering lock like backing out and turning around or pulling out of a parking spot. any ideas what it could be?

Could it be your serpentine belt squeeling when you cut the wheel hard? The serpentine belts in my f150 and in my car squeel when its cold.

Check power steering fluid level.

I have recently replaced the serpentine belt, the noise is unchanged. I sucked out as much of the old power steering fluid as I could (it was nasty) with a turkey baster and replaced, that was some time ago.

Pwer steering pump could be worn and the pully might not spin as nice as it once did, causing the belt to chirp somewhere.

This is only when you are turning the wheel right when the truck is moving really slow, correct??

Your belt may be fine but something your power steering pump is probably slowing it down when your moving slow. Or maybe your tensioner pulley is allowing a little too much slack. You can buy a spray can of belt dressing and it will make it go away for a little bit, or you can buy a new pulley and powersteering pump. Did you check the level in your power steering pump by the way? If its low it would make the pump work harder and perhaps cause the belt to squeek.

I'm confident there's plenty in there, but I did remove some bc I was afraid I had overfilled it. There are always solemn warnings against overfilling the pwr steering fluid, but does it actually cause anything bad to happen?
