Default rust rust rust!!! HELP!!

Hey guys, on to the next question. I have repaired 99% of the rust and body work issues on my truck today. 12 hrs of work.

Only thing i have left is, the rear fenders on the bed. There rusted out to about 5 or 6 inches above the fender line.

short of a new box or patch panels from lmc or whatnot..

How can i fix/rework the fenders? I have the steel here to cut and work with but no welders so welding is out.

I dont need it to look 100% just better than what it is...

thanks alot

Get a junkyard fender and cut patch panels from that.

Good luck, I'm looking for another tailgate, and all I found were two in worse shape than mine for $275 each. I thought about replacing the bed on mine, due to the shoddy repairs done when it was hit broadside from the previous owner, but it looks to be pretty dang expensive

Lightbulb Check car-part.com

Not sure if you already knew about car-part.com. You can search for parts and sort results by distance from your zip code. There's probably some salvage yards you've overlooked. They just may have the part you need.

Hope this helps.

Well, if you ever go on vacation in St.Augustine Fl then drive your truck. Because I have seen a bed at a junk yard there in great shape and they said they would sell for 200 dollars. The only reason i know is because my truck is originally from up north and the bed fendor wells are starting to get rust that I cant fix without major work like youre talkin about but that one they had was only a single tank and mine is a dual tank. Im sure junk yard body parts are cheaper down here since we dont have salt eatin our stuff up and the body stays in better shape for longer periods of time. Unless I drove on the beach all the time down here and then Im talking about some major body rust over a little time.

How did you possibly do rust repair without a welder? If you are planning on spending a few hundred bucks buy a cheap welder. It sucks to do body work with a flux core welder because of all of the grinding but if you buy a decent one you can upgrade with gas later if you can't afford it now. Some hardware stores will rent mig welders.
