Without reading 11 pages of replies, would a test light work in place of the voltmeter?

No code 11 or 111 usually means bad computer or no power or ground to the computer.

Recently bought a '95 so no more obd 2. Hadn't run a self test in forever and a refresher was in order. Went thru your writeup and no problems. Very well written, clear and concise. Kudos !!

It's 25 bucks now but still less than an Actron. Question though: does it come with a cable to use between the underhood connector and the tool?

The above site lists Ford trouble codes. You might find it useful if you use the following diagnostic trick:

With the key OFF, push (and hold down) the SELECT/RESET button on your odometer.

Start the vehicle while still holding the button. Continue to hold it down, until all of your gauges jump up to their maximum, and then return to normal.

When you see "bulb" in the digital odometer readout, let off the button. This is the gauge test mode.

Some of the things you can view on your odometer screen are:

Digital speedometer (mph)
Digital tachometer (RPM)
Digital speedometer (kph)
Battery Voltage
Engine Temperature
Plus, you can also view any TCs stored in the computer!
I've uploaded a couple of photos from the dash of my truck that I got while holding the Reset button. Since you said SELECT/RESET, I tried holding both buttons while turning on the key but nothing happened... pressing Reset a second time produced the second photo.

Pressing Select just gave me a bunch of 111111111's, 2222222222's and so on... nothing intelligible. I didn't see anything about battery voltage, engine temperature, or the other things you mentioned.

Any idea what the information in the photos mean? My truck is 1994 4x4 with E4OD and 5 liter engine.
