how to bleed clutch
#51
Update:
Clutch pedal is still soft. I actually thought I effed something up and took it to a mechanic; first time in 17 years. They bled the clutch but said it was fine, slaves engaging PP fingers; just goes to the floor, he was a bit confused. $50 to let me know I should have trusted my own work....good lesson. Been driving for a while, no better, no loss of fluid, shifts fine as long as the pedal is floored. Oh well.
Also that day: Exhaust fell off. It was awesome; guy next to me in a BMW **** his pants!

Interesting...I'm going to look at that when I get home. I did notice when I swapped MCs that the firewall looked like someone butchered it with tin snips. If it is flexing I'll tack in a 13ga backer plate.

Is the 4spd + OD considered 5spd? I've checked everything and it just seems like the slave is either to short or doesn't compress on the same scale. Wondering if someone at AZ gave me the wrong slave. Been driving for months like this, fluid level is still good.

Just thought I'd raise this from the dead for anyone seeking advice in the future. Temperatures here have been highs of -4/-10 degrees for a few days and I went to take off in my truck and felt the pedal hit the floor with almost no pressure stopping me. Not sure what the cold has to do with this, just might be relevant. So anyways, I sat here reading everyone's advice here and on other forums but this is what worked for me. Before I started, my clutch only had pressure the last 1/4" and wouldn't fully engage. Being this cold out I decided to try working any air out without being outside too long. I removed the cap to the resivour along with the rubber diaphragm and filled it up to the absolute top. I then replaced only the Cap. I went back inside the truck and pumped for 20 minutes straight. I varied between fast and slow pumps, I pumped quickly then held the pedal, and then pumped sliding my foot off the pedal to allow it to snap back quickly. I noticed a difference right away but just kept pumping. I topped it back off before inserting the diaphragm and I'm happy to say it feels better than before. Hopefully this post helps someone in the future.

when it's cold like that and the master loses prime it means the master is going bad... mine used to do that for a couple years in a row... it finally died this year...
