Help Choosing A Tire, 95 f 150
I have a 95 f 150, 6 cyl. I am looking to put new tires and to upgrade the size. From the factory, these trucks had the option of either a 235/75r/15 or a 265/75r/15. I currently have the 235. I want to either go to a 30/9.5 or a 31/10.5. A few key things are the influence of my decision:
1. This is also a DD, averaging around 15k a year. So Gas mileage is a factor. I currently get about 16.
2. Lots of highway miles, 70 mph. So i need a tire that won't wear out on the highway, and one that wont start to yell at me when i am on the interstate.
3. I take my truck through mud trails some, nothing crazy, but i enjoy getting it muddy, so that is a factor, how it handles, and if it self cleans
Here are the tires i am currently looking at, but feel free to suggest others if you think they are better:
Cooper S/T
Cooper A/T3
Cooper STT
Goodyear Wrangler AT/S
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac
Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with kevlar
BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO
If anyone could provide their suggestions? how the tires wear, ride, affect mpg, how long they last, etc. Thanks a ton

i would stay right about stock, maybe bump up to the 265's but no bigger your truck runs about where it is going to get the best right now. 16 is real good
i would go with the
cooper AT3 out of your list.
STAY AWAY from the good year AT/S that is a factory tire and has a bad rep.
might i suggest a not so agressive tire something like a falken rocky mountain ATS/wild peak A/T (same tire diff name)
or a Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor these were used on Military blazers for the past 10-15 years good life and awesomeside wall.
check out stores like (discount tire direct) online they offer free shipping to your door.

I forgt to say I plan to lift it 2 inches, with a coil spacer and then a rear block. And how do I tell what gear ratio I have? Sorry, I'm just Learning more about trucks, picking stuff up as I go

i have the 92 version. ive have the same lift already and i run 31s....it really didnt mess up my mileage to much, i think i might have lost 1 maybe 2 on the highway.....cooper makes several good tires for your interests

I have Goodyear Wrangler Authority tires(31/10.5/15's) that are Walmart specific. A couple others with 8th and 9th gen trucks have them. My gas mileage dropped quite significantly with the new tires, even calculating in the extra bit of mileage I drove that the odometer doesn't read; but I believe that winter grade gas is playing a big factor in this, so I'll be running my 31's for a few more months.
I averaged 16MPG city with the stock 235/75/15 Wild Country Sport XTX tires and 22MPG highway, but with the 31's I went down to 12MPG city and I haven't gone on the highway with my truck since I made the switch. I have an open differential with 3.55 gearing. No power loss or anything with the slightly larger and heavier tires. If you have time until you buy tires, I can let you know what my mileage is next month when they go to spring/ summer grade gas I'll be taking a 3 day 900KM trip to Alaska

I would suggest the cooper A/T3s. Just put a set on my 94 last month and I'm still getting around 15 to 15.5 mpg. They don't have much road noise either, less than the highway tires I just replaced in my opinion. I agree with fordtrucknut, those wranglers are crap. They don't last long and will leave you stuck in a water puddle.
