I have a 93 f150 4x4 with a 302 5.0 and the fuel pump has always wined when i start the truck. more in the cold than warm i knew it wasnt a problem but today i got in and it would start so i pumped the gas like a bat out of hell and held it to stay on. it did but sputtered so bad if i stopped pumping it would shut off. i tried driving up my road as soon as i stopped it shutoff. i got it back on and got it home. it stayed on but kept sputtering. eventually was back to normal. before i change the fuel pump i wanted some second opinions.. maybe fueel filter?

Yea i'd check filter first... If it's been a while good to do that first. Also check your fuel pressure

def sounds like it's not getting gas....cheapest route first,replace the fuel filter.problem still exists,check pressure.pump may need changed.MAP sensor could be bad too.check codes,that'll tell you alot.first replace filter,go from there.
