common guys, no replys... help this guy out (i need the help too). i have a 1990 150 5.0 auto 4x4 with a blown H/G, i have a complete 5.8 motor from another 150 with wiring harness and computer... is this a direct swap? i would think so, but if someone has already done it, info on any stumbling blocks would be nice to know.

Basically the only difference is firing order, exhaust manifolds, 351w is a little taller, and possibly the flex plate, other than that the motor is the same, you can use the same trans, mounts, the only other thing is the intake, and the ecu, it will be tuned for the 351, but the 302 ecu might work and configure itself for the 351, I am not sure so do a little research, or ask here, also make sure if you have a speed density truck, make sure the 351 is also speed density, if not find a speed density upper for the 351.

I think the most important thing is mass air and speed density uppers, make sure the upper goes with the truck and the ecu.
