351W swap
#1
I Have a 96 150 with a 302 in it and am planning on swapping it out with my cousins old trucks motor his is a 95 150 with a 351W. Now when he crunk up his truck the smog pump made a high pitched noise for a minute or two then stopped, I was planning on just bypassing the smog pump(I don't mind that this is illegal) how should I go about doing this? Remove the pump while the motor is out or just leave on the pump and bypass it with a smaller belt? I also wanted to know if I need the 351 computer or if there is anything else I need to have before I start the swap. I have the 351 ready to be pulled so tomorrow I will have it out and start to clean it up before I go to put it in my truck. Is there anything I should do while it's out to make it easier on myself later down the road or any tricks to this swap that might help me out?

this swap is probably going to be more than you can handle,
most people convert from MAP to MAF, it is a better system with the OBDII.
your be going backwards.
you'll have to swap dash harnesses, fuse boxes?
I used to know exactly everything needed, but gave up on my search for a junk OBDII 4.9l...

Well I would be converting the 351 to MAF to fit my truck, but what is all needed for that it might just be easier to find another motor. Either way I do still plan to change to a 351w my old 302 had no power, no speed, and horrible gas mileage. That holds true from 96 when my grandma bought the truck all the way till now.

you might be able to swap in the 351w, find you an engine harness for a MAF 351w=not sure if the 5.0l harness will work but it might??, and get a 351w MAF computer.

Well I am gonna look around and call some junkyards and a few people I know that might have a MAF 351 I could buy. That sounds like a much easier way for me to go, when it comes down to the swap though there's nothing different about putting a 351 in there verses a 302?
