Default '94 5.0L Fuel Filter Change

I am trying to replace the Fuel Filter in my 94 5.0L. I bought the Quick Disconnect Tool at Advanced Auto Parts, but I don't seem to have room to use it. I have never used one before, so I decided to do some reading and watch videos. From what I could gather I don't have enough room to use the tool.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I understand that I have the tool backwards in my picture, I was trying to illustrate how I think there is not enough room.

Thank You!

Someone put the wrong filter on. Is it like that on both ends?
About all you can do is take a hacksaw and cut the filter tube off then get it out of the fuel line connector.

It does look like that on both ends! Good to know I am not losing my mind/missing something. A hacksaw it is, this should be fun!

Thank You!

That sucks. Have fun with that. Be patient so you don't damage the line.

The only thing that my truck ever went to the shop for! I bought the tool and would try to get the lines loose until I couldn't handle it anymore. Throw the tool, kick the tool box and went back at it the next day after I calmed down. Same scenario several times over a period of three weekends. I went to my neighborhood shop and they swapped the filter in about 10 minutes for $25. Well worth it!
