Question transmission removal

i have a 1999 ford 150 and i'm trying to drop the tranny never done that before
and i know you have unbolt the torque converter from flywheel but can a tranny be remove without the torque being taking off the flywheel

This is the '87-'96 section.

You risk damaging the pump if you don't take the torque converter out with it.

This, plus you'd never get it back on to the torque converter when you went to reinstall the tranny.

It can be but it's a silly way to do it. There's only 4 bolts - just do it right
