the Spout was disconected and Timing was set with a light roughly to 12* BTDC. the emission sticker says 10* BTDC but had it around the 12* and ran great, actually the best it has ever run..

when I went to tighten the Distibutor down I had moved it a little bit and reset it with the light. after a couple times I realized I needed to tighten it down from the front and shut it off so I didn't have a encounter with the Serpintine Belt. after getting the Distributor tightened down I went to restart the truck and it cranked hard then acted like a dead battery with nothing.

this is getting aggrivating and I am working outside and to make matter's worse, more snow is in the forcast for tonight into tomorrow ( another 3"-8" )

this truck is becoming a big headache!

You have changed all 3 cables? Positive, negative and solenoid to starter cable.

i always recommend alittle more advance in the timing, it usually helps in the performance. if you got an ohm meter, check the resistance in the battery to starter wire, should be less than .5

Default dist

I had a dist that went bad, and caused the same issues... it was an older truck (79) and the springs in the dist for the advance were worn out making the timing advance when it shouldn't... I went through 5 solniods, 4 pos cable, 2 flywheels, and 3 starters before an old mech looked and listened to it. He poped the cap bent the lil tang the spring held on to, and had me start the truck and it was better. replaced the dist and it was like a new truck. A lil different... mine started find cold... like a dead battery when warm, and I couldn't use past 1/4 throttle unless I got into it snail slow. The engine was rebuilt by me with everythig new except the dist... it worked on the old motor so I fgured why change it.... come to find out worn parts... work with worn parts!!
Alot of times the pickup in the dist will go bad and lead to issues also. What color is the spark? Blue = good , yellow= not good

with 5" of the white powdery stuff on the ground, just for laughs I figured I would try to start the truck.. it acted like a dead battery again, hooked up the jumper cables and it started right up... it stayed running and got the drive all plowed but acted a little doggy and seemed to miss every know and then. I double checked the timing, about 12-14 degree BTDC and the sticker says 10* BTDC but it dont seem to like it there.

still confused on what is actually going on. the battery is a 650 CCA and new as of 12/20/08, thinking it is a little under powered and needs something a little bigger.

while plowing the truck did stall a couple times which it cranked hard then fired up.

fuel injectors are not going to make it act like a dead battery. and hooking up jumper cables aren't going to fix fuel injectors. what about your alternator, is it charging the battery? it sounds like the load capability in the battery is gone, i saw you said it was new.

650 CCA just might not be enough in the winter cold weather...
