EVERYONE POST YOUR COMPRSSION READS ON HERE SO WE ALL HAVE SOMETHING TO GO OFF OF and ur year, mileage, and motor
I-6? Not at 8.8:1. Compression ratio & rate of compression are two different things. I get a headache just thinking about trying to explain the difference. I'll see if I can find the link I have that explains it. When you further advance your timing, your compression ratio remains the same, but your rate of compression increases. Confused yet?

So 178-182 psi w/ no significant bleed down is in the ballpark. Gauge is probably accurate (should have been, it was right out of the box, but for the same reason, I wasn't sure). You had 185 on a cylinder, now I'm jealous.

Just bought a 1990 w/ a 302 5.0L, 134,000 miles. In this order:

REAR
4 8
3 7
2 6
1 5
FRONT

1 -- Dry: 175 Wet: (Didn't bother)
2 -- Dry: 172 Wet: 175
3 -- Dry: 145 Wet: 155
4 -- Dry: 170 Wet: 167 (?)
5 -- Dry: 175 Wet: 180
6 -- Dry: 175 Wet: 180
7 -- Dry: 182 Wet: 185
8 -- Dry: 182 Wet: 182

My truck cranks with "push button" so the fuel pump was off. I poured a little motor oil in each cylinder for the wet test but it probably could have used a little more. Cylinder 4's reading seems off and 3 probably leaks.
