I have a plug with 4 wires under my ash tray what is it for?

My 93 5.0 ... the lighter was in the ash tray...don't know what your talking about.

More than likely it is for a brake controller. Even if you do not have the towing package they will still have the brake controller plug. I just is not wired for power or to the rear of the vehicle, just the brake light and ground wires are connected.
