1988 with a 302 not getting a signal to the injectors
I just got an 88 f150 with a 302 for cheap. The is not running. The computer is not sending a signal out to the injectors. I hooked the truck up to a scanner and got nothing out of it. Does anyone have any idea as to what it could be? I have tried many different things with no good results.

i got a new distrubitor for it, i got a new MAP (it needed to be replaced), i have checked the inertia switch, i have tried it with a computer from a 89, and im pretty sure there is some other stuff i have tried, i just cant think of them at this moment. One thing that i am thinking right now is they guy i bought the truck off of messed around with the fuel pump wiring, so i was maybe thinking that because of the way he wired it the computer isnt noticing the pumps and therefore it wont fire the injectors thinking that there isnt any fuel.

the guy wired the pumps up to run when the ignitions on. THere is fuel getting to the fuel rails. I know for sure that the computer is not sending a signal out to the injectors. The computer controls the injectors via the ground. When i touch a ground to an injector i have hooked up to my wiring harness, and it injects

the only thing that i could see being an issue with the computer is the differnce in years. Would that cause it not to function? Is there any way to get a computer tested?

The computers have codes on them, if the numbers match it will work. I'd say if the truck it came from had the same engine and tranny then it also should work. The computer is on a fusible link, no fuse. It's bolted to the starter solenoid. I'd check the power to the computer first before trying to test the computer. I imagine someone could test the computer, but I've never checked into that. Find the computer relay near the air box, the yellow wire will always have power. The red/green wire will have power when the key is on. Black is ground and red will have power with the key on. The red wire also has another fusible link after the relay but before the computer, it should be near the firewall on the drivers side. The red wire from the computer relay also powers the injectors and the computer uses a ground signal to fire them.
