Transmission Oil change WARNING!!
I decided to change my own transmission fluid. A few days later, it felt like the transmission was slipping at take-off.
As it turns out, the damn transmission filter has a neck on it with a rubber friction washer and its the only thing holding it in place. The filter came out of the hole and was resting in the transmission oil pan. This was causing "cavitation".
Make triple sure that your replacement filter is seated properly before you put the pan back on.
A horrible design in my opinion.

What a great idea! It happened to me once on another vehicle. I still have no idea why the filter came loose. But this is a better approach. I am going to fab a clip from a stainless steel sheet metal and install on all my vehicles.

Okay, so what's that for ? Looks like it's attached to the valve body. Alright, I guess I see what it's suppose to do but yea, installing the filter correctly would be the best option IMO. Yea, never heard of the E4OD/4R100 having a filter problem such as this...weird.
