My name is Bob Butcher, and I live in Colorado. I have about 65 years experience working on all kinds of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I purchased a 1990 F-150 FWD with 5.0 engine and 5 speed manual transmission a few years ago, with a blown engine. I obtained a donor block and rebuilt it to factory spec. Unfortunately it has a flat tappet cam, and I know modern oils lack the zinc needed for long life on flat tappet cams. Someday If lthe cam fails, I will convert to a roller cam.
I am a retired electrical engineer, and have a home workshop with metal lathe, CNC knee mill, TIG welder, and lots of other tools.
As an engineer I like to build things and design things.
