I just did a build for the STX I'd want if I were to order it. Here's what I put on it:
5.0L
101A
STX
Sport
4x4
Supercrew
trailer tow
LED spot lights/tow mirrors
reverse sensors
running boards
carpet and floor mats
trailer brake controller
siriusxm
after $2k in package rebates the sticker was 46,200.
I built and XLT sport with 302a, the three towing options (tow package, mirrors, trailor brake controller) and a couple of other minor options like different axle or big gas tank and the sticker was about $50,620 after the same $2k in package rebates. So I guess what we are looking at: is heated seats, leather wheel, remote start, power seats, keypad etc. worth $4,420? Right now, the lease incentive is the same for both trucks at $2250. I think the STX is a better deal overall. And I like the grille and column shifter better on the STX.
If you get the Max Tow Package instead of the Tow Package and Trailer Brake controller, it brings in the different axle and big gas tank for a more reasonable price.
One big thing comfort-wise to some is the arm rests on the door panels are padded on the XLT. Add in more options to get the seats right where you want them, it's just little things that may make a difference.
For me, I went back and forth at my dealer between an xl and xlt and found it was worth the extra few bucks (less than $1500) for a 302a sport with no line item options vs loading up an xl stx with what I wanted to more closely match the 302a.

Sure, if you want an Ecoboost. He has a 5.0 on his list there.
I have a 2017 Super Crew 4X4 XL 4X4 3.5L Eco Boost 10 speed Automatic with the 101A package,STX Appearance Package,Black Platform Running Boards,Color Coordinated Carpet and Max Tow Package. On my Window Sticker also in options it also says XL Sport Appearance Package any idea what it consists of?
FWIW I had XLT's before but haven't missed the other options the XLT comes with as of yet!!
I went from an '05 STX to a '12 XLT. At that time, the differences in the trim level were big, and pretty much everywhere inside and out. But those were still mostly cosmetic differences. In today's trucks, I think the differences are much less, and the STX trim is much more similar to the XLT than it used to be, at least cosmetically.
One thing that's included in the XLT 302A package that's not available (as far as I'm aware) in the XL/STX is the power sliding rear window, which is a feature I really, really like. When I was shopping for my '16, it was on my short list of features I considered necessary. It's not an inexpensive item, though - I've heard figures of around $2k to add it after purchase. I don't know how Ford values it in the package price, though.

I have a power slider on my 17 XL STX. Per the window sticker, $350 option. I wanted one, but it was not a deal breaker. Was pleasantly surprised when I found an XL with it.

The Sport Appearance Package is required for the STX Appearance Package. The Sport package adds the color matched front and rear bumpers and the fog lamps.
I love my STX. It’s basically all prrsoanl preference to each person. For me, the extra options going to an XLT were negligible. My main wants were the painted bumpers, grille. I got the center console and 8” sync 3 and 4x4. Not to mention for $36,000. I’ll be adding katzkin leather in about a week for $700 and remote start for $150.
mine also has carpet...I see some people have the vinyl.
