Deal fell through
Haven't been in a Sierra but I recently took a 8hr road trip in my buddies Silverado High Country and I'm assuming everything is pretty much identical to the Sierra apart from the exterior. All together there were 5 men in the truck so throughout the trip I sat in every seat and even got to drive for a bit. As you can imagine I was comparing it to my F-150 in my head the whole time
.
It is a great truck but the only thing that I remember thinking was better than the F-150 was the ride quality. The rear end felt more planted whereas my truck feels a little 'skittish' at times (probably due to the weight).
The biggest areas that I felt the F-150 had the advantage was the rear seat and driving position. The Silverado has a small hump in the center where the driveline is and small humps under the front seats right where my feet landed when I was sitting in the window seats. Not a huge deal but I am 6'1 and when I was sitting for long periods of time it was definitely noticeable. The F-150 has more legroom and the floor is completely flat. The Silverado's vents are also under the seat whereas the F-150s are in the center console which I much prefer bc you can adjust where the airflow is pointing.
As far as the driving position goes the F-150 feels much more 'commanding'. In the Silverado it felt like I was sitting lower. When I adjusted so the pedals and steering wheel were in a comfortable position the bottom of the window was almost level with my shoulder whereas in my truck I sit much higher and have way better visibility.
Either way both are good trucks and I do think I prefer the exterior styling of the Sierra over the F-150 despite the square wheel wells. At the end of the day I feel the F-150 offers a much better overall package for the money.

My reasons for staying away from the general:
Safety ratings
Square wheel wells (this I could never live with)
The dreaded "Chevy Shake" if you acquire this in your new GM truck there is no fix and you are basically on your own. Go to the Silverado Forum and read page after page of comments and issues.
I had a GM truck with the shake. That is why I am here. That issue cost me a lot of money and the part that pissed me off the most? A service manager that outright told me "there is nothing more that we can do for you" At that point they reported the problem to GM as "within specifications" and I was done!

"Heard it" pretty much everywhere.....
There are no 'reviews' yet for the 2019, btw....it won't be out until next year.
Visually, GM trucks usually don't make a massive change each generation. The 2014 models were all new, but looked a lot like the previous generation.
Some links to 'previews' or what's in store for the new GM trucks coming out next year.

Here's a couple with some of the cladding removed. Does look like the wheel wells are round on the Silverado. The Sierra....I'm not sure what those wheel wells are.

Should be a whole lot more info on the upcoming GM twins at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Ford's last cycle was six years (2009-2014).

Major GM changes are in store for their pickup next year. Something one would want to know if they are buying a new GM truck now. Also always interesting to see what the other major truck manufacturers are up to.
It just caused him to pause and look at all his manufacturer choices again; he wasn't necessarily brand loyal. I drove the Chevy myself (drove only Chevy and GMC for 25 years) but I changed my mind when I drove the Ford. I think he realizes any dealer, any brand, anywhere can try to screw you over at the last second.
