Default Tint over factory glass

** updated, go to post 70 to see pictures! **

I have a super crew and am looking to get my rear windows tinted. My rear windows all have the factory privacy glass which is about 20%.

I don’t want super dark or limo tint, but I want added privacy over factory.
Should I do 20% oe 35% over the factory privacy glass?
5% is way too dark for my taste... debating only between 20 and 35.

My truck is black with black interior. I have 35% tint on my front windows which I like a lot!

I would do 35% over the colored rears. I like the back just a tad darker than the fronts and you already have 35% in the fronts and like it that way. I did 30% in the front and 20% over the rears (forgot at the time the rears were not a removable tint from factory) and my rears are too dark, IMO. My wife's Explorer has 20% fronts and 30% rears and it looks perfect.

I tinted my whole truck, 35% over the rears, 20% up front, 60% windshield with a 5% top stripe and 60% on the pano roof. My truck is white with tan interior. Looks dark in pictures but you can still see in the fronts a little bit. Overall I think it turned out well, No issues see out at night

I did 20% over the OEM tint. It''s not over the top at all... I also have 35% on the front. It's a nice combo.

I did 5% over factory. 20% over 20% is sill pretty dark. Heck 20% is decently dark

Keep in mind that the darker you go, the harder it is to see at night. I went with 20% and had to install LED spotlight pods beneath the rear bumper to regain the use of my mirrors when backing up.

Here’s what I did:
~Suntek CXP Window Tint
*55% Front Windshield*
*18% Front Doors*
*70% Back Doors*
*05% Rear Window*

With 18% on the front door windows, putting 70% over the back door windows matched it about spot on. I wanted the rear window very dark, so I did 5% over the factory tint.

Adding 20% over the factory glass will give you about 4%. I used 20 over the rear and the front windows with 70% on the windshield. You basically can't see in the back from the outside which is what I was going for.

I did 20% Llumar Ceramic Window Tint all around & on the sunroof. (Nothing on the windshield.) Really helps cut down on the heat in the summer. As other folks have noted interior is dark at nite & occasionally have to lower a window to see backing up in low light spots.
