4.6 oil filter

I am going to assume you are asking because you do not have the remotely located filter, because those are simple as can be. This is how I've done my last two changes, and this has worked out great. I have two different "socket style" wrenches for two filter types. The WIX and Motorcraft use the same socket, IIRC.

No longer stuck in 2003
Because an engineer who has never had to do any kind of maintenance on an engine thought it was the most efficient place to put it...................after management tells them to find ways to force people to take their cars to the shop.

Nothing beats GM putting the starter under the intake on the Northstar V8.

If it was easy you might do it yourself. Mine isn't bad though, it hangs down to the left of the oil pan. I've done it without jacks, tight squeeze but doable for me. But I have a floor jack now. I have a '97 4.6 XLT.

Nailed it! Guess what my manual for my Mazda 6 says about changing a headlight … take it to Mazda. For a headlight replacement. Crazy. They do this crap just to make the lesser skilled crowd come in and pay good money for a simple job.
