Not knocking you for trying it, but tensile strength has nothing to do with it, it's the abrasiveness of the foot traffic that's gonna get to it, the rattle can stuff isn't meant to hold to to constant rubbing and movement of foot traffic. Gotta remember its just more or less a thin rubber membrane, it may be able to stretch and flex but any lateral friction across the surface will eat it up.
After drying...not quite a thick as I thought it could be. It looks good, has held up fine for a day or two, but....yeah todays rattle can crap is extremely soft and even if you use the whole can you cant build thickness more than a few mils. Its not the plasti dip of years ago....at all. .its just a paint substitute. Useless as a spray rubber for anything I can see.
Oh well, peel it off, try something else in the garage.
- after the new side mirrors and bug shield, it's time for the new (to me) Brush Guard!
I've always wanted one. Picked it up off of CraigsList. Only had to drive 100 miles for a $50 buy.
She's looking better all the time.
(new mirrors and bug shield posted earlier)
Now if only i can motivate myself to recondition those lights!
Thanks man. Absolutely love this thing. Surprised you still can get them from Ford; not cheap, mind you. Comes directly from the manufacturer. Complete with Ford badging.
Been a while since I had mine off road, so decided to take a family outing offroad. Nothing aggressive, just some loose red sand, loose rock, and some hill climbing. Oh and some hiking as well.
Now, *that*, that makes having a slider completely worth it! Nice!
Any pics of the install? I don't think I've ever seen any.

Easy enough, though a couple small adjustments need to be made. Bracket is mounted the wrong way, so I had to flip that. Harness to the truck wasn't there, so I bought the proper pigtail, soldered it up, and wrapped up the wires. Plug for the motor is in the rear right of the cab. Plug for the switch is tucked way behindthe headlight. Shine a light back there, and you'll see the orange plug. Just need the correct trim piece.
Make sure to buy the mounting hardware. Just 3 screw clips, and the screws. Holes are already there. Use 1/4" screws.
