3 days old and Microsoft STINK or SYNC is bricked
Clearly your dealer can resolve things. Or, you can see if installing the stick and pushing "OK" restarts the process. Just sticking in a usb stick would likely do nothing.
Any brand new vehicle is supposed to be updated before delivery.

I also never connect my phone and just leave the bluetooth off. I noticed every once in a while it turns it self back on??? I just turn it back off.

.
Thanks for the replies.
I certainly did not restart the truck during the install. The directions are very clear on not to do this.
Last night after posting this I got into a 1 hour taptap-chat support session with Ford.
They asked me to perform a key cycle as follows:
**1. Turn the vehicle completely off. The vehicle engine should not be running, and the vehicle should not be in accessory mode. Many newer vehicles will keep the radio on, even when the car is turned off, until a door is opened.
**2. Open the driver’s door. Ensure the radio display turns off completely
**3. Close the driver’s door.
**4. Restart the vehicle.
**
That dd not help.
However, while I was out there with my laptop I connected the USB stick to my laptop and found the stick itself had become corrupted. My computer did not recognize the stick and said it needed to be reformatted.
I reformatted the stick, copied over the files again, plugged it into the USB in the truck and the update completed successfully within 5 minutes.
Question is... how does a USB stick get corrupted DURING an install?
I do have a hypothesis but I am unable to confirm...
I was driving the truck during the installation of the SYNC update (as permitted in installation directions). I have the auto start-stop fuel-saving feature enabled on my truck, so the engine cuts out at stop signs and traffic lights. My theory is that a surge from the auto start-stop process fried the data on the USB stick during installation.
Again, I have no proof of this but anyone else upgrading SYNC whilst driving may want to consider disabling the auto start-stop feature.
Thanks,
ft.

Loose ac and heat seat buttons on the display, mine didn't. Are folks losing theirs?
