I did have to modify the door a little bit around the speaker area. The Stereo Integrity 6.5" speakers have a big basket on them so I had to trim the opening on the top and bottom to get them to fit....

How did you set your gains on your amp? That sub is suggested 500 rms so you should have been fine unless you set your gains too high and were clipping the signal.

Using the LC7i instead of the HU RCA pre-outs will cause more issues than it is worth. Run the RCA cables.

The cables are less than $30 and these are good rca cables....

This sounds like a gain problem and not speaker or amp problem. How did you set the gain on the alpine ktp amp?

Your speakers will not distort on 45 rms if everything is set properly.
