They do look different. I doubt a tread design like that will be very quiet though. Looks like a tread built for looks and not performance, but only time will tell.

When you open your door, lets say the steps hit your shins. Will the steps stop or do the continue to drop all the way? I know they stop if they are retracting and something gets caught in them.
