On my '86 I must stop the engine to get into 4LO without grinding.
If that does not work then something is seriously wrong with the T case.

Without a key the lock pin must be drilled out in order to remove the old cylinder. Then just buy and install a new cylinder with new key. No need for a locksmith unless you want to use the old key...

There is an aftermarket 38 gallon rear tank but you have to move the spare...
