Looks to be dorman junk. Mine did the same thing started making a ratcheting clank sound upon startup. Thought it must be tensioner again but wasn't. Luckily I caught it before it messed the cam up.

I agree crankshaft sensor will cause hard starts and other oddities. Might try your spare key if you have one just for grins to see if it starts consistently.

I wouldn't leave them unplugged for long just enough to test. You will notice the performance go down. Usually around the 800-1000 rpm you will hear a rattle until you go above or below that range...

I don't have the VCT solenoid part numbers in front of me but the last time I swapped them out I did them one at a time and within a 3 month period ford put out a cheaper updated "b" version. Curious...

It is behind the VCT housing that your VCT solenoid sits down into. Unless you specifically removed it from the head you wouldn't have noticed it.

You more than likely will have to drop the front diff. I attempted removing the oil pan but only removed the front diff bolt holding the differential up and that only gave me about an inch of room...

The solenoids being unplugged wont affect the tensioners. sometimes you will get cold start chain rattle but I didn't see you mention that. I would get a oil pressure gauge or get it checked at hot...

Yes and the timing chain. Im sure depending on how the phasers are breaking down causes different effects on the guides but the cloyes timing chain links on closer inspection were rough and not near...

Yep complete junk I need to try and get rockauto to refund my money. I took the phaser apart and you could see wear marks on the metal where the internal vane plate rotates. Glad you got itfixed.

Just removed the right side phaser and the phaser pin had broke that goes onto the backside of the cam. The phaser housing that holds the pin had a crack in it and fell out after I removed it....

Take the injector from that cylinder and bench test it to see if it leaks. Did you ever hear it ping?

Noise is gone and praying that it stays that way. Oil pressure is much better as well but i still need to take it for a longer drive. I hate starting it for the first time until oil pressure gets up...

Yeah my new guides were on 3 months and they were way worse than the 80k ones I removed.. Crazy
I will only use ford parts especially for internals from here on out. Lesson learned.
