I've had piston slap/rod knock that's loud upon start but dies down when warm but still audible since 150,000 I've got 204,000 on it now and runs fine as I can tell, I'd run it till it breaks

Rule of thumb in the chevy world is 8-8.5:1 dcr and a max of around 220 cranking cylinder pressure on 93 octane, it is a little harder building engines using carbs and hei ignition, can't pull timing...

Exactly, dynamic compression is the biggest factor of knock/octane needed, I'm building a 12.1:1 377 for my chevy mud truck that has a dcr of 8.2:1 that should easily run on 93

I have both the systems, I used the posi Lok about a year ago until I figured out my actuator issue and put the actuator back in and left the posi Lok ran but not hooked up, hence why I said I tried...
