Nah, the 97/98's came that way from Ford. Well some of them anyway. You can get one at a salvage yard from a wreck, just replace the O-rings. The factory set ups last forever. I've never had a leak...

Yea, they shouldn't pull through the top like that...ever with the correct hardware/bushing. BUT, what usually happens with a crank is you'll go through lower bushings and over compress the uppers....
