Check for voltage at the battery with the truck...

Check for voltage at the battery with the truck running, if it has 14v+ the alt is good, if there is less than 13v the alternator is bad, and if there is 11v or less the battery is bad.

Lift the rear and turn the wheels, feel and listen to see if anything is wrong. Sounds like ring and pinion went bad. Also when the rear goes bad it does not necessarily get hot.

Global automotive on ebay has them for $23.00 ea, just the cartridge pump itself, with lifetime warranty. Doing new front tank and pump today, new rear pump next weekend.
