Only starts when tilt steering column is all the way up?

1990 XLT Lariat only starts when the steering column is pushed all the way up, has anyone had this problem is the past and what was your fix? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I realize it's a little late but better late then never. Yeah if it's the same issue I am dealing with . With mine it's because they misaligned something at the shifter when they changed my motor. I had a new motor put in my truck and when they changed it out ther was a misalignment with the shifter. If that helps u any
