I personally wouldn't use cardboard to cover the opening... As soon as it gets wet it'll break down and your lights will start to fog.

I did this in Feb '13 with some FX4 headlights, only issue I've had with mine was the crappy ebay special D2S HIDs along with the crappy ebay special H13 harness. Within a couple days the harness took a crap so got a Morimoto one. Next had a bulb go out, tossed in some Morimoto 5Five 5000K (55w). Next up was a ballast, so upgraded to Morimoto ballast. Learn from me, save yourself the headache and buy Morimoto brand stuff.

I ended up getting a stock set of Raptor 2013 headlights and retrofitted them, only difference being that I painted the lexan bottom black and used black RTV. Been running them 6 months with no issues.

One thing to note is you CAN have high beams, check out the thread below and you'll see how I did it.

Didnt get a alert for this thread. I went to lowes got a sheet of thin aluminum and cut a square and punched for holes to bolt into the factory holes. I also used weather bead around the edge to seal it good.

Thanks for the reply but I ended up finding a guy on here that made block off plates made of aluminum that fit that hole. As soon as the olde lady lets me buy the final parts I might actually be happy with my HIDS haha. Question though did you have to have an adapter harness to go from factory HIDS to aftermarkets?

I spliced the aftermarket lights into the factory wiring and to this day they are still working. The cool thing is the money saved if you want can get a LED bar that I had originally wired in for brights, but I ended up running a switch to the bar. The hids are bright and chances wont need the brights. But at times it is nice to have extra light on dark roads or to flash someone to move over.

For $35, I think the Morimoto module with entire wiring harness is well worth it to have brights working. Doubtful you can find a $35 light bar that will outshine your projector HIDs. Plus, ya know, the legal aspect of it for state inspections.

Very true and nice find on the module. In Florida we don't have inspections, but very good find for those that do have them.

Digging up an old thread here.....but I am looking into doing this, however all the headlights I am finding on ebay do not have the bulb in it. Is there anyway to make this work without the bracket behind the bulb?

I am sure you can it is just a metal plate that has two screws holding the bulb in place.
