Default What is this and is it hard to replace?

My clutch pedal didn't come back up after I pressed it in to shift while driving down the road. This was hanging under the dash. I'm assuming it isn't supposed to be bent and it being that way is causing my clutch pedal problem. What is this part called and is it relatively easy to replace? And, the bigger question, what would have caused it to bend in the first place? Thanks for any and all help.

What is this part called? Came from a 1987 F150 4.9 L standard transmission 2 WD.

That's the clutch push rod from the pedal to the master cylinder. No idea why it would have come loose.
