shifting problem

take the floor pan off above shifter exposing top of tranny .take the bolts out of plate holding shifter in, in neutral lift shifter and shift plate out flip it over exposing shift forks you should be able to notice where the protruded lip is wore off the center of the shift fork if any question look at other shift fork you should be able to visually see the differnce. what I do instead of replacing the shift fork is I just weld about a 1/4" tall bead around the inside center of the fork and grind it down and smooth to look similar to the other fork and reinstall it. if it dose'nt bolt down quite right or it's hard to shift you didn't grind it quite enough if you thy to get it just right it should work just fine for more years of driving oh and it would be wise to change the fluid. I just suck it out with a turkey baster anb wipe it out as good as I can I don't worry about the part that spins where the fork rides mine is somewhat rough but my fix has lasted several years already with no issues and it only took less than 2 hours start to finish

This post was 3 years old, and NOT a "how-to" writeup, so it's in the wrong forum.

Steve83, why would you be worried about it? I.m sure lots of people have read the post and have had the same problem and don't know how easy the fix can be so I was throwing it out there to give everyone a little knowledge that they might be able to save money, time, and a headache. Or is it just your job in life to blast anyone who is trying to be helpfull?

"Blast"??? Clearly, you've never been blasted, or even seen a blasting. If anyone is doing any blasting, it's YOU. Why are you worried about what I post? You posted something that you thought was helpful (that word only has 2 Ls - not 3); then I did. But my post wasn't TO you, so get over yourself. It was FOR anyone else reading this (pointless & useless) thread, to point out that there's no need to reply to the original 3-year-old post. So there was no reason for you to blast me about my helpful comment.
