Default Rich gas smell

Lot of raw gas around the FPR. Yesterday coming home I noticed that when I slowed down to turn into my drive.....my old 90 F150 4.9 began to choke down. Strong gas smell. As long as I kept the rpms up, it ran good. Wont idle but just a few seconds. What's the best way to replace the ftr if that's the problem? Can it be done without removing everything above it? Thanks for any advice on this guys.

Similar problem in my 96. Valves in fuel line getting worn out and backfilling second tank. Once it's full the gas has to go somewhere. This is on my 96 which has two
fuel tanks.
