LS drivetrain in a 1990 F-150... seriously, no BS. Advice?

I picked a really nice Texas F-150 for less than 40K miles. Super cab, two wheel dive, 5.0 and auto tranny. I love the truck. Good 'ol grandpa burgundy interior and burgundy on cream two tone paint. The performance is lacking to say the least.

I recently acquired a refreshed 2006 1/2 LQ4 engine, built with an LS6 cam and yellow springs, fresh HD rebuilt 4r60 tranny, complete harness w/ fly by wire pedal assembly, 5.0 engine mounts and conversion yoke. The drive train came out of a late 1990s Mustang conversion. It already has shorty headers with bungs and O2 sensors in place as well. I originally planned to swap the drivetrain into am '85 C1-, but the 383 Stroker already in it is nearly sorted out...... which had me thinking...... a sleeper 1990 F-150 would be interesting.

The mechanic whom I received the drivetrain from feels the swap will be relatively straight forward, and that it will be a fun project (he is going to help me do it when an open week-end presents itself).

Here is my goal…. I want to install the engine and transmission, while keeping the factory gauges. Is keeping the factory gauges a tangible goal? If so, can anyone point me toward some references for tackling the project?

All I can say it I think it would be epic! The ultimate sleeper! Go for it!

Does anyone have tangible experience with such a swap?

I am curious home the stock column steering linkage will work the 4r60e.

Apparently not. O.K. I'll figure it out.

As far as the gauges are concerned, all you'd need to do is install the Ford oil pressure and water temp. senders in the GM block. I don't see that being any real issue.

Thanks for sharing. Do you guys have any suggestions for led fog lights, backup light, turn signal light, led light bars etc. to test for free? I can write a review for that.
