Default Tilt Steering locked ?

Just bought a 1988 f150 XLT Lariat, it is a beauty. The only thing I haven't figured out or it doesn't work is the Tilt Steering. The owners manual diagram shows that the turn signal lever should be pushed towards the dash to use the tilt function. I have tried several times but can't get it to work. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions ?

I have the same problem... I have a 1987 ford f150 custom and the steering wheel for sure does tilt but I can't figure it out. There is no tilt lever just a turn signal lever.

On those truck the single lever is the tilt lever... Put the lever in the nutreal postion(Not signalling) .. And push the lever towards the gauges... If its gummy.. you might have to push and wiggle the steering wheel.
