I'm new to the forum and have a real BUGGY problem.
My 85 F150 rear end made a loud popping noise then gears grinding.
I took the cover off the differential and found 6 small rectangular pieces of metal lying in the bottom of the differential. One was bent up pretty good the others not so much. I can't find any reference to these small parts in any parts manual. Here's a picture.



It's upside down but you can see what I found and the size of the pieces.

Can anyone tell me what they are, what they do, where they go and where to get replacements? I'm going BUGGY trying to figure it out.
