Not Starting

Default Not Starting

Hey guys i have a manual 1990 f150 4.9. Recently it quit starting so i have change the starter but that didnt help also changed the solenoid but wont start at all. i can jump it using the solenoid. but from the key i cant get it to start any ideas?

Do you have any spring tension on the key cylinder when turning to the start position? If not, then you probably have a broken ignition actuator rod or ignition switch is coming apart.

Use a test light to see if you get power to the little wire with the push on connector (at the solenoid) when the key is turned to start. That wire activates the solenoid (power comes from the ignition switch on the column).
If you don't have power there, you have to look at the circuit from the ignition switch.
If you do have power at that little wire but it doesn't crank I'd be looking at the solenoid itself.
