Question After-Market Steering Wheel

1988 F150 custom

I hate the stock steering wheel in my truck, it was the exact one that was in my moms minivan back in the day. Not only do i find it ugly and uncomfortable, it reminds me of that van and that's all i can think about when i look at it.

I was wondering are there certain things i need to know about changing the steering wheel, i know airbags would be an issue but i believe there are none in this truck.

Any suggestion on where i can find one and how to swap it out?

And how difficult is it?

Thanks

You can get just about any after market steering wheel. You just need the right adapters in order to install it to still be able to use the horn through the clockspring. For example, here is a steering adapter for a MOMO steering wheel

Why are these adapters so expensive? I was looking them up and they are a simple piece. Why so expensive?

No clue why they are so expensive. Its made so you can bolt on any of the companies brand steering wheel and make them compatible with the horn, airbags and cruise control depending on the wheel you buy. They do make universal adapters but they won't always fit to the wheel you want and often don't have the wiring needed for the rest of the stuff.

The Momo brand name about doubles the price of anything, look for one made by Grant.
